How do you teach Preschoolers Math?
Young kids learn like sponges.
It is true that worksheets can be a good option.
Hands-on math activities are also a great option.
No judgement on either because both have worked really well for our preschoolers.
In my opinion, we have loved learning about math in our everyday world.
If I see sticks on the ground, I can teach tally marks.
And, if I see rocks on the floor I can count them from 1-10 or 1-20 by lining them up in a row.
I may even be able to count by 5’s, 10’s and so on and so forth.
This right here is what makes learning math fun.
Making learning about math engaging and fun is one of the many benefits of learning math with all of the benefits mentioned above.
Worksheets are also great!
They can allow for pincer grasp skills, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and more.
Whichever way you choose will work well.
Personally we prefer both simultaneously as with everything in life, a balance is key.
There is no wrong or right answer to what works for you and your child.
The most important question to ask is what works for my child and how do they enjoy learning.
I hope this helps!

Going to the grocery store is a wonderful tool to make learning fun.
When we go to the grocery store, I point at 2 carrot cans and 1 corn can.
I show my preschooler that 2 and 1 makes 3.
Sometimes, we will add up the 1 dollar candies.
For example: If I buy 3 candies and they each cost me $1 how many dollars would I need to purchase the 3 candies?
The grocery store is a great time for incorporating hands-on learning about mathematical concepts.
Jelly beans, craft sticks and dot stickers are all great manipulatives that can be used in learning to count, add or subtract.

My favorite way to bring forth an easy frugal fun early math skills activity is to make sure it is an easy math activity that incorporates learning in a fun way.
When math problems can be made fun at the preschool level, teaching new ideas and concepts is a breeze.
And easy way to start incorporating and bringing forth new concepts and ideas is to look out in the real world.
There is literally so much all around us while we walk through our daily life.
Counting the clouds, the stop signs or even the rocks on the floor in your front yard.
Sticks and flowers that bloom.
Math is literally all around us.
Our world is filled with different numbers by way of actual items that can be used (kid friendly items, that is) to teach hands-on learning to young preschoolers.
The preschool years are such a fun time.
I absolutely love teaching young children in this age range.
It is such an honor and a blessing to be able to teach my little early learners these concepts and skills in a fun way.
And, my hope is that you enjoy this simple set of hands-on activities with your 3 and 4 year olds.
