Are you on the hunt for a free butterfly template?
These free printable butterfly templates are so much fun!
We love bringing these out with younger children and older kids for learning and coloring with.
I use these in creating beautiful butterflies with certain supplies such as pipe cleaner, popsicle stick and dot sticker crafts and supplies.
***As a bonus, I’ve included a Life Cycle of the Butterfly free printable for sorting from 1-4. Thank you for being here. 🙂
I love incorporating these simple butterfly outline printable templates to bring forth learning about the different life cycles of a butterfly:
Use these templates to trace them onto construction paper and create a beautiful butterfly art piece.
These fun butterfly crafts are perfect in crafts for kids and activities for kids of all ages.
I’ve included 8 different butterfly printables that include educational sequences within each of the sheets.
They can be used in crafts, activities, paper butterfly crafts, garland crafts..

This collection of wonderful butterfly templates require absolutely no prep and can be printed out easily with the correct printer settings.
They can be used with certain supplies (on bulletin boards, or not) to make learning and crafting fun!
Here are some of the supplies we love using to create the most epic butterflies:
toilet paper roll
glue googly eyes
glitter to create a glitter butterfly
designer chart papers
card stock paper
yarn for creating a beautiful garland with
sticky tack for adding to the wall as beautiful butterfly art
So many fun ways to go about using those creative juices to come up with some of the most beautiful and unique butterfly pattern crafts.
An idea is that you can create the butterfly body with a toilet paper roll.
Cut out the butterfly wings templates and then glue onto the middle of the butterfly (the toilet paper roll.)
Then, talk about the life cycle of a butterfly.
We like to use sticker paper and interesting shapes (foam shapes, that is) for sticking onto the insect crafts for decoration.
This is a fun activity to try out with a toilet paper roll.
What about a paper plate?
Here is a fun one we made last year – Paper Plate Butterfly.
Had I had these templates I would’ve added them to the paper plate for crafting and learning with.
We would use the large butterfly template for this.
Decorate your very own unique butterfly in this way.
Glue the butterfly template by adding glue to the back of the butterfly and gluing onto a paper plate.
The simple templates are high quality and can be downloaded in/as PNG format / SVG files or PDF Files.
I hope your young children love decorating and creating these printable files in a fun way!
And, I hope that I mentioned a great tool (homemade tool) that will work out for you for using these butterfly stencil template outlines.

Simple Butterfly Craft Ideas
In crafts, we like to use card stock paper.
Reason being, it is much thicker paper.
Thicker paper allows for the crafts to last longer and hold themselves in place for a much longer time.
We like to use white card stock paper so we’ll print out a white butterfly template for easy decorating.
They are also great to use if you are a teacher in a preschool classroom or homeschool setting.
When bringing home crafts, you can be sure they’ll stay in place with the tougher and thicker paper.
This is a great way to preserve any fun ideas you come up with when decorating the printable butterfly outlines.
Share with me your fun crafts that you make with these butterfly templates!
I’d love to see your beautiful butterfly craft!
