Fallen leaves or faux leaves (Because we live in the south, we bought ours from our local grocery store.
Duct Tape (I chose the colors orange and green because the fallen leaves we had were these colors.)
A small broom scooper (I purchased this little set for $1 at the dollar store but it can be found on amazon as well.)
The point of this simple little setup is to learn about colors by incorporating a bit of gross motor play!

How I set up this simple raking the leaves activity:
Here are the steps I took to put together this simple activity:
I used orange and green duct tape because those were the colors of the fall leaves I had on hand.
If you have red or brown leaves and tape, then you can most definitely add those colors as well!
I taped two squares on our tile floor (An easy peel off.)
Note: If you have carpet, I’ve seen duct tape for a fun activity on carpet too! 🙂
Then, lay out fall leaves onto the floor.
Set aside a scooper and small broom (If you have the kids toy brooms, those will work too!)
Then, voila! You’ve set up a fun and easy game for learning about colors, incorporating gross motor play and more!
I love fall colors!
It brings in a lot of educational activities you can try for learning about different colors for a fun preschool theme!

Raking leaf Game
How exactly did I put together this simple fall themed kids activity?
Easy!
I used duct tape to create two squares on our floor.
My LO used the scooper to pick up the leaves and add them to their correct color match tape on the floor.
She enjoyed this activity very much and we talked about the colors of the leaves while raking leaves.

What to use to pick up leaves..
I used this simple little scooper from the dollar store which worked out really well.
It is not necessary though and just grabbing the leaves with your hands will work just as fine too!
This is a great set of leaves activities for toddlers that kids can try for gaining the benefits of gross motor play, fine motor play, color recognition, and so much more!
Hope you enjoyed this rake the leaves activity!
Enjoy and happy learning! 🙂
