200+ Best Preschool Themes
Preschool Themes are one of our favorite ways of teaching.
Preschool lesson plans allow for children to become fully engaged in what they are learning.
Play based learning is why I love teaching.
Not only are littles learning but they’re having FUN while learning.
Basing a theme around a certain season or month of the year allows for little learners to associate that lesson or theme to their world.
By basing a theme on the world that they live in, they retain knowledge much better and learn in a more effective way.
Save time with Year Round Thematic Units (Tap Below)
These themes can be used in a preschool classroom alongside any preschool curriculum.
They can also be used if you are homeschooling or even as a bonus just for fun.
We love bringing these fun preschool themes everywhere we go.
The beauty about these theme units is that we can take them with us and use them:
while on vacation
while waiting at a restaurant
in a bus
on a train
on the road
The possibilities are endless.
I’ll be sharing so many activities throughout and towards the bottom of this post so that you can have a fun-filled year with your preschoolers. 🙂
Effective Ways of Teaching for the Preschool Years
The great thing about the themed unit plans is that they can work alongside:
your favorite curriculum
a preschool book
circle time
fun activities (STEM, sensory play, fun projects)
We usually take a vacation to the library every week.
There is a special assigned location in our library that separates the books for that current season or holiday amongst all of the children’s books in the library.
We’ll take a trip to that small area and pick out books for the current month.
For example, if it is Christmas, we’ll bring home Christmas themed books and read these alongside our Christmas thematic unit.
This is a great way to teach a weekly theme alongside different themed books or play ideas (holiday themes: sensory bins, art projects, dramatic play).
We’ll work on those specific library books, any play activities and out fun hands on Preschool Themed sheets for the entire month.
This will allow for making our preschool lessons fun and engaging and students/children not only are learning, they’re having FUN learning and engaging with the activities.
