You can literally make a fun preschool themed activity using them that incorporates a bit of learning through play!
This time around I made ours ocean themed since it is summer time.
And, let me tell you it was so much fun!
Both my girls enjoyed this activity in their very own different ways!
My youngest practiced her color matching using the pipe cleaner fish and you can check that post out here.
My oldest enjoyed a bit of play based learning with the pipe cleaner fish.
I’ll be sharing below how I made this easy peasy activity for kids to practice a bit of addition and subtraction for kindergarten!

Pipe cleaners
Poster board
Pom Poms (blue pom poms)
Clear duct tape
Dry erase marker
Markers to create an ocean theme for preschool
These were all of the ingredients needed to put this simple learning through play activity together.
Math addition games for kindergarten
This simple addition kindergarten activity not only was about learning addition.
It also incorporated a bit of subtraction and counting!
These addition games for kindergarten and subtraction games were used with the pom poms as bubbles.
Each time my oldest or I came up with an equation and wrote it on the clear tape, my oldest would use the pom poms to add to the fish as bubbles with the correct answer.
For example: I add an addition kindergarten equation with a dry erase marker onto the tape.
Then, my oldest figured out the answer in her head.
She then reaches for the blue pom poms to add the answer with near the fishes mouth as if they were bubbles coming out of its mouth!
How neat and fun is this addition for kindergarten game?
Your little will have fun playing and learning at the same exact time.
Not only do you have to incorporate preschool addition activities, you can also just choose to write out a number.
Then, count them by using the pom poms and adding the bubbles with them.
This is great for littles learning to count.
It is even great for toddlers who are learning to count from 1-5 or 1-10.
How to teach subtraction
..in the same way!
Instead of writing out an addition equation, try writing out a kindergarten subtraction equation.
This is a simple method to creating a subtraction game without learning how to subtract on paper.
Make kindergarten subtraction lessons fun with this simple idea and apply it to any preschool theme and season it is currently!
