Art with cotton is one of those things that is so entertaining for kids.
It brings out their creativity and imagination to come up with ideas and how they can create something epic!
You can go the learning route with a cotton painting and talk about the colors/counting with preschoolers.
Or, you can try fun liquid watercolor art with cotton pads and just create an art masterpiece.
We themed it for ice cream!
It’s summer time currently and any ice cream themed activity is always so much fun.
Here’s how I put this simple ice cream craft/activity together:
I cut a brown paper bag into a triangle.
Then, I drew waffle like patterns onto it to resemble a cone
Glue a paper plate to the top of the bigger end of the cone.
Add your cotton pad/rounds to the top.
You are set to use liquid watercolors to decorate your ice cream craft for kids!

Cotton ball painting – Ice Cream themed
You can also use cotton balls instead of cotton pads to have fun with this easy ice cream craft!
In fact, we may just try those out too!
Cotton balls absorb liquid watercolors well and you can also practice color mixing with them.
For instance, add the colors red and yellow to your cotton pad and talk about what color appears when you mix the two colors together! 🙂
You can also try a fun splat paint experiment and use acrylic paint instead of liquid watercolors.
Painting cotton rounds and cotton balls with acrylic paint can be a really fun activity or craft for kids.
For example, lay out the cotton rounds/cotton balls into a rainbow shape and then paint the outer layer in red, then the second layer in orange and so on and so forth.
In the end, you will have created a cotton ball rainbow! How neat!
The possibilities are truly endless when it comes to using cotton rounds and cotton pads.
They are such a versatile tool that can be used in any fun cotton ball art projects and learning activities.
