How the Fall Leaves Counting Mats printable works:
Placemats are a wonderful way for children to learn about counting. These work well for a differentiated set of ages.
So, if your child is learning numbers 1-5 or 1-20 it would work well for a different set of ages.
My girls are 3 years old and 6 years old and they both enjoy learning in their own specific way.
This specific counting mat is designed for the month of November. I plan on creating one for each month in the future and will list them all together at the bottom of this post when that is complete.
This activity covers many different areas. Some of these areas are as follows:
Number Counting
Number Recognition
Skip Counting by 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s.
Addition and Subtraction
10 Frames
Odd and even numbers
Thanksgiving Counting Mats for Preschoolers
If your preschooler is into learning numbers 1-10 like mine is, this is perfect for them for the month of November.
Your child or student will add the leaf erasers, mini pom poms… to the 1-10 counting mat and fill the leaves to the correct number match.
This will inturn fill the leaves of the tree. So much learning fun!
What other fun ways can you think of using these with your preschooler?
Thanksgiving Counting Mats for Kindergarten
My kindergartener loves these mats so much. She enjoys all that her sister does on a more advanced approach of 1-20 and more!
She also skip counts by adding the leaves to every other number. This lesson teaches us about the difference between odd and even numbers as well.
She also enjoys adding and taking away (addition and subtraction) leaves.
What other fun ways can you think of using these counting mats with your kindergartener?
How to maintain your monthly printable counting mats
If you’d like to maintain them and use them when on vacation or for on the go, you can laminate them or use a dry erase pocket!
These work well for on the go and we absolutely approve!
Again, it is not needed and will work great even if you do not laminate them.
However, it is great if you are taking them on vacation or to a restaurant. 🙂
