How do you make a marbled egg?
Easy peasy!
Here are the steps I took to set this simple marbleized easter eggs activity:
Hard boil a set of eggs; set aside to fully cool down.
Insert water (about half way) into cups.
Then, add about 1 teaspoon of canola oil into each of the cups.
Add around two drops of food coloring into each cup.
Stir each of the cups.
Insert a hard boiled egg into each of the colored cups.
Let sit for around 10 minutes.
Then, remove excess water.
You’ll start to see the eggs marbling a tie dye sort of look/texture.
Then, mix colors to create two coated and colored eggs.
Tip: Don’t mix too much or the new color will over color the original color and wash it away.
And, there you have it..

Is Easter egg dye the same as food coloring?
If you are referring to the Packets that come from the store, they aren’t exactly the same in my opinion.
They do the job which is to – color – the eggs.
But, one is food coloring (can be used in baking..) and the other is a type of coloring made specifically for dyeing Easter eggs.
