Toy Gift Ideas for 5-6 year olds
This is another one of my favorite toys to talk about besides preschool toys!
Why you may ask?
Because along with having a preschooler, I have a kindergartener!
Oh, I can write about this all day! 🙂
Just a little reminder: If your 5-6 year old has a younger/older sibling , you may want to check out gift ideas for 1 year olds, toddlers and preschoolers!
What is the best gift for a 5 year old?
A toy that brings out their creative juices.
These are better known as open ended toys.
These types of toys are usually hands on, loose play, and spark their imagination!
What is the best gift for a 6 year old boy?
Children that are 5-6 will benefit greatly from open ended toys.
The bridge and little town they built from a set of blocks manifested from using their imagination.
The magnetic tiles they used to create a make believe house for their figures was sparked by creativity.
If you have not checked out my other lists, for the best toys for toddlers and the best toys for preschoolers, please do.
Those same open ended toys within those lists work well for kindergarteners too!
Because open ended toys grow with your child. They are not meant for one specific age range.
These toys spark imagination.
They spark creativity.
And so, what works well in the list for a preschooler will work just the same for a 5 year old.
What are good gifts for a 5 year old boy?
Keep in mind, these toys are not meant for “only” boys or girls.
These toys are meant for both boys “and” girls. They are gender neutral.
This is wonderful as it does not give the hint that it has to be only for a boy or that it has to be only for a girl.
Open ended toys will work well for both boys and girls simultaneously.
So, which open ended toys are great for 5-6 year olds?
